Henry Morgan delivers his first sermon in Boston.

February 27, 1859

Speaking at the Music Hall, he declares his intention to preach the Gospel to the “working class” and open a “mission for the poor.” Morgan soon becomes the first minister of the newly-established Union Mission Society, which purchases the former Church of the Disciples on Shawmut Avenue in 1868.*
